About the Seminar back to top

Dr. Ratcliffe is Dean of the Sorrell College of Business and Eminent Scholar in Accounting and Finance at Troy State University. Dr. Ratcliffe also serves as Scholar in Residence for Wilson, Price, Barranco, Blankenship & Billingsley.

He has published approximately 100 technical works in accounting and auditing, including Matthew Bender's Applying GAAP and GAAS , a widely used, two volume accounting and auditing guide for practitioners.

Dr. Ratcliffe has received several research and teaching awards throughout his career. He received the Alabama Society of CPA's Outstanding Discussion Leader award as the outstanding CPE instructor in Alabama for six consecutive years. Because no other discussion leader had a chance of winning the award, Dr. Ratcliffe agreed to be ineligible for the award and the official name of the award was changed to the Thomas A. Ratcliffe Outstanding Discussion Leader Award. Additionally, in 1991 he received the Alabama Society of CPA's award as the Outstanding Educator in Alabama.

Dr. Ratcliffe serves as a consultant to several CPA firms. He was president of the Southeast Alabama Chapter of the Alabama Society of CPA's in 1991, and currently serves as a Council Representative.
